November projects.

November NewFO Linky Party and Giveaway

2014 NewFO Challenge
It is time to Join the fun at Cat Patches with my new projects for November.  It is not necessary to finish a project, just start. I did a lot of both!

 November was Christmas sewing month.

 I finished the Doll cloths.

And the Stockings.

I made this Creeper for my Daughter-in-law to give my grandson for Christmas.

A creeper is a creature from Mind Craft computer game.  It is made out of my Son's uniforms that he wore in Iraq.

Then I started making Biscuit quilts.

Top and bottom of blocks,  6 and 4.5 inch

Stitched together with wrong sides together with a box pleat .

Slit in back for stuffing.

Sew together in rows.  These are 8 by 15  blocks.

Stuff all of the center blocks, leaving the outer row.  Instead of hand stitching each block closed, I used Heat Bond and Muslin strips and ironed a patch over the holes.

I added a fleece back, turned  and tied them together.

Finished at 32 x 60

As you can see, I will have to make more for my special helpers! .

As it turned out, I needed Birthday presents, so the boys got theirs on Thanksgiving.

I will make the next one longer!

After doing  stuffed Yo-Yo's for Halloween last month, I made a Christmas tree.

It is decorated with buttons. There is another one in the works.

One last Project is my official NewFO

I used a charm pack of Grunge fabrics. Just needs a back, quilting and binding.

October NewFO Chalange

October NewFO Challenge Linky Party and Giveaway

 2014 NewFO Challenge

It is time to Join the fun at Cat Patches with my new projects for October.  It is not necessary to finish a project, just start. I did a lot of both!

I did a lot of playing in October.  I played in the flower garden.  The Hexie garden.

Texas Wildflower Mix set 1 by The Caffeinated Quilter

Then I played in the pumpkin patch some more.

 White lace

Jack-o-lantern and a plain orange pumpkin ( did not get a photo of it)   OESD

Then I played with my Yo-yo.

Stuffed Yo-Yo black cat and  Pumpkin head From Yo-Yo Quilting

Then I played with my kitty Meow.

My daughters niece ask me to make her a Halloween costume.

It is from the Movie  The Ring
I did not get a photo of her in it
When I got tired of playing, I made two table runners from a kit, Not so Spooky.

 It is  a Kimberbell design.

Then I started on Christmas. I am making 10 stockings for my daughters extended family.   The blue ones are for the adults and the red ones for the children. They will have the names on the white cuff in silver. This is a McCalls pattern

I also started on doll cloths for the younger niece in that family.

Now for my official NewFO!  Hexi Garden quilt  was featured at our Quilt Sitters Circle.  It was made with 4.5 inch hexagons.  The ruler had several sizes you could make.  I have been making miniature quilts and really enjoy them.

Those are cut 1.5 and finish at 1 inch.  That is a quarter in the center.

This is the 'lap' size on the block size design wall.  After I finished putting it together, it had issues.  the next to last row is not the same size on both ends.  So I have to make at least one and maybe  two blocks over.  I hope to finish it this weekend.

September NewFO Linky Party and Giveaway 2014 NewFO Challenge

September NewFO Linky Party and Giveaway

2014 NewFO Challenge
It is time to Join the fun at Cat Patches with my new projects for September.  It is not necessary to finish a project, just start.

I  feel like September slipped past me.  I looked around and can not fins a single quilt that I worked on.   I did get all of the Sun Bonnet Sue quilts bound labeled and gifted and a couple of Block of the month  blocks completed.  So, what did I do.

A lot of Embroidery.  Free standing lace for Halloween.  They stitch out tiny little 'buttons' and button holes to assemble them.  I used two layers of Decor bond on the fabric pieces and wash away stabilize.  The stabilize turns into starch when it is placed under warm running water.

First I made a Coffin.  It took about five hours to stitch out and another to put it together.

 It is six inches long

The skeleton was a left over from a doll house project.

It holds a 12 Oz. package of M&M's.

The tombstone only took 30 minutes.  I could not get a good photo of the lace base.

Then I made Jack-O-Lantern.  It took 12 hours to stitch and another to put it together.

Then I made a Fall Pumpkin.

 It also took 12 hours.

The pumpkins have a hole in the bottom for lighting.

I used these flickering lights I found at Michaels

Halloween and fall  decorations ready to display.

I also made another Sun Bonnet Sue for my friend.

This is Trick or Treat Sue.  It was a free pattern on Craftsy and is paper pieced.

Last of all, I made a Pickle Pie  Trendy Over the Shoulder bag. This is also made in the embroidery hoop.   A friend was having problems with the design and wanted me to try it.  I did not have any issues.  She made another one and it came out right.

I spent a lot of time at the machine, over many days.  I only worked six hours or less a day.

And to wrap up the month, here is my sewing buddy Kirby in the case for my embroidery unit!

And Angel setting on the witch quilt.
