April was a productive month

I an joining Barbara at Cat Patches for the April NewFO Challenge and Linky Party.

 Finishes are never required in the NewFO Challenge. All you have to do to join in the party is start something new during the month of April. And this month, we're playing for this the bear's paw lapel pin:

Again this month I am pulling kits out of a tub and completing them.

First up is crazy Eight Stripe Teaser A Table Topper by The 3/4 Crazies in Lake Havasu City, Arizona.

The pattern called for eight quarter yards the full width of the fabric. I selected animal prints. This was a strip pieced process you cut it with a triangle ruler. Part of the cuts were wet were 16 1/2and part were 10 1/2.

Since I had used animal plants I found this green leafy fabric in my stash for the back.

I bought this  pattern at a quilt shop in Odessa Texas that has since closed.

Next I did Cindy's table runner. I bought this kit at Alford Inn Quilt Shop in Van Alstyne, Texas.

This was very quick and easy project with a little fussy cutting. The back on this quilt was a plain black fabric.

My third project was in the tub that had a lot of Texas quilts. This is a Texas braided table runner. I bought this kit at Kaleidoscope quilt shop in Whitesboro, Texas.

 This was made from a jellyroll and these are the fabrics that were in it.

 I found some barbed wire fabric for the back.

This quilt is called small celebrations by Judydidit designs. I have to admit I do not remember more about this kit. It is appliqued on a piece background.

 I have a Silhouette Cameo cutter that I cut all the applique pieces with. They come out as smooth as if they were laser cut.

 I created the details on the Alamo using colored pencils and permanent pens.

 I did all the applique on my machine using a blanket stitch.

For the backing I used  Texas wildflowers and bluebonnets

My next project was something totally different it was not a quilt or a table runner.  I made a purse. This pattern is soft pockets by in Aunties Two Patterns.  This purse is made with a jelly roll and strips of batting. the pattern set for the large bag to make 21 tubes. The overall size of the nurse was supposed to be 13 inches wide and if it wasn't and remove tubes until it was. Mine came out 18 inches and I like the size so I left it as it was. It has to flap pockets and one center pocket. Inside one flap pocket it has a zipper pocket I have a lot of documentation on how to put this together but I won't post all of that here I'll just show you the finished product and post a how-to later.

 It was wide enough I needed three buttons on each side.

 And there's a large button on each side where is the battle was joined together.

The next thing I pulled out was a fractured flag by Cross Mountain Stitchery.I got this key at at Front Porch Quilts in  Benjamin, Texas.  

This was a very fun and quick wall hanging. Start to finish I did this in an afternoon. It is done similar to a bargello quilt. This was back the same red that is in the flag.

This next project was totally new.  I ordered it this month cause I had seen it on the back of McCalls magazine.

I ordered this from Annie's catalog.

Triangle frenzy swirl by Bunnie Cleland.  The fabric is.Lavender Market by Northcott

the kit came with the fabric to make a table or two small. I opted for the two small ones.

 

The last project and it is very simple and had been on my to-do list for very long time. I have made my self one of these tissue covers and my granddaughter said she wanted one. I think it took me five years to get around to making hers. I asked her if she still wanted the same fabric or something different and she opted to keep the same, cowboy boot fabric.

All I had for this project was a printed sheet someone given me and I don't even know who to credit for the pattern.

And of course I have my faithful helper. I may never get to use this bag because Angel will sleep on it.
