Quarters for Baby

I am starting a new project. It is a win size quilt from American Legacy Quilts, Quarters for Baby, by Mary Jane Best.  I purchased the kit from SewBatiks at the Dallas Quilt show a couple of years ago.  The fabric is flannel batiks.  They are so pretty and soft.

It was recommended that I wash the flannel before I use if because it will shrink and the wax and dye in the batiks will run.   I tossed them in and added two Shout Color catcher sheets.  I was shocked when I took the color catchers out.

This is the background fabric, used for side set triangles.  The pattern calls for 5/8 of a yard, but the kit only had half a yard.  I contacted the company and they will be sending me more fabric.

These are the eight brights for the 3.5 inch finished size blocks.

This is the border, backing an binding fabric.

I am starting the cutting tonight.

  1. That dark purple must have really run. You might want to wash it once more to be sure it's OK now. I remember from the quilt shows how beautiful Sew Batiks fabrics are and I'm sure the flannel is very soft. Good luck with the cutting and sewing!
